100 Word Challenge Week 8

It was our rugby final. Our whole team was ready for the game.

We went to our formation and the starting whistle went. The opposition caught it and suddenly our big, meaty captain ran straight at the opponent. He crouched down and tackled.

Suddenly you could hear a massive splitting sound. Someone screamed.

“Look” someone said. The opposition's sprig had dug into our captain’s leg and there was a big, deep gash. Quickly our coach said “I’ve got it, I’ll rip open the cut and it will help.” My gut knew this was wrong but I went along with it anyway.

The next I saw our captain. His leg was amputated because there was too much blood coming out.

But what if I was in charge? I could have saved his leg.
